Medicine USE Reviews (MURs) —What’s the purpose?

- To discuss how a patient should use their medicines correctly
- To check if a patient knows how to use their medicines
- To provide an explanation of the condition the medication is used for
- To check if the medication is used as prescribed
- To pinpoint any issues that may affect the correct use of medicines
- To identify any side effects experienced from the use of medicines
- To ascertain if there are medicines no longer used and to remove them
What an MUR is not:
- About having a discussion to change drug treatment
- To discuss a medical condition beyond what the drug is intended for
- About looking at the effectiveness of drug treatment based on clinical test results
- A comprehensive medication review
